I have known Bill Brett for many years and have observed him in various roles within the horticultural industry. There is no doubt that his knowledge is encyclopaedic. His earlier publication Garden Pest and Disease Control, Essential New Zealand Guide, 2016 alone demonstrates this. The Home Orchard book will be valuable to anyone seriously committed to growing good fruit at home or indeed on a larger scale. Future editions will be needed to keep the information regarding the availability of cultivars (varieties) and pesticides relevant. However, the foundations are strong, and the book will remain sound for many years to come.

Written by an experienced horticulturalist with a sensitivity to the concerns and motivations of gardeners throughout New Zealand, Bill Brett’s new book will be the standard reference for all gardeners who wish to improve their knowledge in this important aspect of their hobby or vocation.

I have known Bill Brett for many years as a mentor, colleague and friend and am thrilled that he has chosen to share his extensive knowledge in this book.
Bill has taken the scientific and analytical information that can often be complex and confusing and has translated it into a useful, helpful must have resource for anyone who cares about the safe and effective use of pesticides.
I am delighted that he has put into print his years of experience and knowledge for all of us to access.
